I recently asked Robbie Perkins to respond to the following that was recently written by John Hammer,
“The reason that the city manager has so much support on the City Council has nothing to do with his ability to manage; it is largely about the Simkins PAC. To get the support of the Simkins PAC, City Council candidates reportedly had to promise not to vote to fire Mitch Johnson. This caused a split on the PAC, with some PAC members backing Tonya Clinkscale in District 1 and Mary Rakestraw in the at-large race.
This also explains why At-large Councilmember Robbie Perkins is such a vocal supporter of Mitch Johnson. Perkins wants to be mayor. The word in the street is that Yvonne Johnson only plans to serve one term as mayor and then she will step aside and endorse Perkins. But Perkins knows he can’t win without the support of not just Mayor Johnson but the majority of the Simkins PAC.”
Perkins response is that “No deal made with Yvonne or the
No response on the question regarding his interest in being Mayor.
