Youth and Shootings in Greensboro…

As the council (and members of Greensboro’s blogging community) focuses on swimming pools, hotels and text messages… there is a very real reality that crime is still a large problem in Greensboro.

Today, the Greensboro News & Record reports that a 17-year old boy has been arrested for shooting a 16-year old girl in the throat.

[If you need a reminder as to what a shooting scene looks like after the police do the clean-up, click here. The scene is the aftermath of a 16-year old was shot and killed in Greensboro on August 4, 2009. One might imagine that things like jobs and crime would outweigh things such as text messages. If you watch tonight’s council meeting – pay attention to how much time is spent talking about jobs/crime in comparison to text messages and seating arrangements.
